Help me choose my head shots!

Standard

I sat down with the lovely and uber talented, Dana K Photography earlier this week to get some professional head shots taken. I need one –more professional one — for my social media business, Flutter Media, and another — more fun one — for my LindseyKnows accounts! Of course, I’m having the hardest time deciding on the ones I like, so I thought I’d ask for ya’lls help! Vote in the comments below!

Outfit of the Day featuring BurdaStyle Bow Front Dress 07/2012 #109

Standard

I’ve been making a lot of dresses from BurdaStyle lately. Honestly, I don’t love the patterns — no seam allowances, the sizing is always way off, and you have to print and piece at home — but, dang it if they aren’t so cute.

109_technical_largeMy latest creation is the Bow Front dress. I didn’t get all that creative with this one. I made it exactly how Burda suggests. Actually, this is one thing about the patterns that I love. The fabric suggestions with colors are great.

So, I hit up the internet and bought this green and tan/orange canvas fabric and some crepe. It really is a great weight for this sheath style dress.

I paired it with a long crocheted cardigan from Old Navy from forever ago. The shoes are Ralph Lauren in a baby pink that I got on sale for seriously $4!

Revlon-Colorburst-Lacquer-BalmI’m obsessed with nude lips lately a la Kim Kardashian. The trick is to find a color that is a perfect match for your actual naked lip color. Some will be pinker, some will be more brown. I’m also obsessed with the “chubby stick” lipsticks that have hit the market in the past year or so. Clinique, Revlon, and L’Oreal all have their own versions. The Revlon brand is rich and gives my lips a nice minty tingle.

What Proactive taught me about skincare before I even used the product

Standard

Of course, Proactive has been around for years. I’ve thought about ordering it on and off in my life but never did. Then one day, I was watching E! News and Julianne Hough was on to talk about her Kind Campaign charity. She casually (not sales-y) mentioned that Proactive was a sponsor to which the interviewers (Kat and Guilianna I believe) comment that she was a spokes woman for them. Then, almost in unison, they both exclaimed that her skin was flawless even in person.

I don’t know what it was about that interview, but shortly there after I was online making my first Proactive purchase.

With that purchase came a free downloadable e-book. It seemed like a throw-away freebie to me. Just something else to throw in to the package to beef it up but something that would have much merit.

I read the entire thing…cover to cover.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain Review

Standard

image

I got a 20% off coupon to CVS which happens to be my favorite time to shop beauty there. So, I walked on down (yup, I have a CVS in walking distance! I rock!) and loaded up my basket with a lot of goodies. I have been wanting a summer lip color for some time. I have plenty of reds and nudes in my stash, but nothing bright and bubbly for these sunny days.

I initially went in wanting to try one of the L’Oreal Infallible Never Fail, but when I saw Revlon was Buy 1; Get 1 half off, I starting poking around. And, for some reason the packaging of these Just Bitten Kissable’s ($9.79) sold me. The color range was great and I sprung for this bright hot pink as soon as I saw it. Although, I must admit, the lavender looking “Darling” was tempting as well.

The website claims: “It’s a pampering balm fused with a lightweight lipstain in an adorable chubby crayon. Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain gives softer, smoother lips with a perfect flush of color that lasts hour after hour. The gel formula comes in 12 vibrant shades that match any look or mood.” Score!

When you open the packaging you’ll see a big crayon tip. It’s wide enough to cover your entire lip area and the tip helps fill in the corners and your cupid’s bow.

It’s smells like eucalyptus and makes me wonder if it has a “plumping” quality to it since most of those do smell like mint or eucalyptus.

It glides on really smoothly exactly like a lip balm. But, the pigmentation is amazing. There is so much color transfer’s with just one application.

Here’s the lip balm applied just one time…

And, after letting the product set in a bit…

Here’s an Instagram pic I took almost three hours after the first and only application! (disclaimer: there is a filter applied here which deepens the color a bit).

When I color test on my hand (which consists only of kissing myself) there is no transfer. The swatch that I tested at the store is still on my hand too despite getting soaked in an unexpected downpour. When I rub over that with my finger, there’s no smudge or product removal at all.

I will say the “balmy” quality of the product did diminish quite a bit…leaving my lips feeling a little dry. But, another quick application and the smooth, creamy, minty feeling is back.

So, here’s to the summer version of a red lip…hot pink hotness! I really like this product a lot and recommend it to anyone — even in this bold color — to anyone.

What is your go-to summer color product?
