4 DIY updates to a basic cardigan

Standard

As the temps finally start to wain, I find myself reaching for my stash of cardigans. But, to be honest, I fallen out of love with most of them. They’ve started to lose their shape and coloring and are just sort of blah. So, I took to Pinterest for some inspiration and thought I’d share my favorite tutorials for refashioning a cardigan.

1. Ruffle Trim

Let’s kick this whole thing off with a ruffle. The talented and lovely Jessica from Joyfolieblog.com came up with this little creation. She takes it a step further and adds rhinestones to the buttons, too, which is equally adorable.

2. Add Ricrac

RicRac

This bright little number is just a bunch ricrac strategically sewn in all the right places. It’s the creation of GrosgrainFabulous.com and inspired by the Emma Pillsberry character from Glee.

3. Add pleats and a bow

What’s more adorable that pleats and bows? Nothing? This is why I’m so in love with this RufflesandStuff.com cardigan refashion. I love that she used a thrift store tank as fabric for the embellishment!

5. Add pockets

Finally, you can easily add pockets (lace or otherwise) to your cardi. BlissfulandDomestic.com came up with this darling option.

What are you favorite ideas for updating your cardigan collection??
